Battleship Texas participated in various neutrality patrols and escort missions in the North Atlantic Ocean from November 1939 to December 7, 1941.
Howard F. Flood Jr. enlisted in the Naval Reserves with parent permission on February 14, 1941, and went through basic training from July 5 to August 3. He went to additional schooling through September 3, 1941. His first assignment was on Battleship Texas.
USS Nevada (BB-36) was the lead ship of her class of battleship, and commissioned from March 11, 1916, to August 29, 1946. She was sunk as a part of Operation “Crossroads” on July 31, 1946.
USS Oklahoma (BB-37) was a Nevada-class battleship commissioned from May 2, 1916, to September 1, 1944. She was sunk by Japanese bombers on December 7, 1941, refloated for scrap and sank again in 1947.Collection
