Description

Right epaulette of R.B. Derickson bought in 1933. FOuled anchor above Lieutenant JG rank.

Context

Battleship Texas was flagship of Battleship Division One from September 15, 1931, to June 27, 1937. She continued to participate in Fleet Problems throughout this period. Richard Derickson commissioned into the Navy and bought his ceremonial attire in the 1930s. He was later a gunnery officer onboard Battleship Texas from 1943 to 1945. Bicorne hats and epaulettes were articles of uniform, worn by officers at state occasions or ceremonies.
