Peter Fiedler was the first captain of the nuclear cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39) from October 1975 to January 1979. He supervised construction, and took official command on September 10, 1977, when the cruiser was commissioned.
The Vietnam Service Medal was awarded for service in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, or Cambodia from July 4, 1965, to March 28, 1973, and April 29 to 30, 1975. The medal was established by L.B. Johnson via Executive Order 11231 on November 28, 1965.Collection
