Plaque made from the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Certificate of Achievement awarded to Peter Fiedler for the successful completion of the CGN-39 Design School from September 8, 1975, to October 10, 1975. Plaque has Cruiser Texas emblem in the background. Signed by Vincint A. Blando, and John J. Foster, both managers of the CGN Project.

Context

USS Texas (CGN-39) was the 3rd ship named USS Texas. She was a Virginia-class nuclear guided-missile cruiser commissioned from September 10, 1977, to July 16, 1993. She entered the nuclear recycling program on October 1, 1999. Peter Fiedler was the first captain of the nuclear cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39) from October 1975 to January 1979. He supervised construction, and took official command on September 10, 1977, when the cruiser was commissioned.
