Texas in foreground with measure 22. Cargo ship in background to the left. Peir in bottom of photo. Back is stamped "NOT TO BE MAILED" and written "TAKEN AT BANGOR N.I." in pencil. Duplicate of 2023.1001.21. This is the second of this photograph to be accessioned.

Context

Battleship Texas began preparations for Operation “Overlord,” the invasion of Northern France, on April 22, 1944. She departed Belfast for Normandy on June 3, supported the landings from June 6 to June 16, and returned to England on June 18, 1944.
