Hammock owned by Thomas Newton during World War II while a crewmember of Battleship Texas. There is one patch in the center of the canvas. The hammock was donated by Newton's surviving son Alexander Newton.

Context

Thomas A. Newton was a RM1c on Rear Admiral Carleton F. Bryant’s staff throughout World War II. He served on Texas from December 23, 1943, to September 22, 1944.
