Charles W. Moses was a gunnery officer on Battleship Texas during the early years of World War II. He served on board through Operation “Torch,” and retired as a Rear Admiral in 1957.
Wardroom officers had napkins rings with their names on them. Design varied but the tradition continued throughout the history of the US Navy.
USS Nevada (BB-36) was the lead ship of her class of battleship, and commissioned from March 11, 1916, to August 29, 1946. She was sunk as a part of Operation “Crossroads” on July 31, 1946.
USS California (BB-44) was a Tennessee-class battleship commissioned from August 10, 1921, to February 14, 1947. She was broken up in 1959.Collection
