Battleship Texas began preparations for Operation “Overlord,” the invasion of Northern France, on April 22, 1944. She departed Belfast for Normandy on June 3, supported the landings from June 6 to June 16, and returned to England on June 18, 1944. John E. Robson served on Battleship Texas beginning on October 16, 1943. He was made a MM3c on May 20, 1944, a MM2c on August 1, 1945, and departed from the ship on November 16, 1945.
