Context

Charles Pratt was an ensign onboard Battleship Texas for a brief time in 1921 and would continue to serve in the Navy until 1942. He collected much throughout his military life and beyond. Bicorne hats and epaulettes were articles of uniform, worn by officers at state occasions or ceremonies.
