Description

British cruiser HMS Kenya sails behind the Battleship Texas during a good will tour to the United States. San Jacinto Inn visible between the two ships.

Context

The Battleship Texas Museum was operated by the Battleship Texas Commission from 1948 to 1983. She was located at San Jacinto State Park on the Houston Ship Channel. HMS Kenya was a Fiji-class cruiser in the Royal Navy, and commissioned from September 27, 1940, to September 1958. She was scrapped on October 29, 1962.
