Context

Battleship Texas departed the Mediterranean on September 4, 1944, to return to the United States for overhaul from September 14 to November 10. She passed through the Panama Canal into the Atlantic Ocean on November 19, and conducted gunnery practice in Hawaii from December 9, 1944, to January 9, 1945. The crew of Battleship Texas made holiday cards and gifts for those back home, and occasionally held holiday events when in port.
