Context

Emory R. Lewis was a QM2c on Battleship Texas from July 19, 1943, to October 5, 1945. He participated in each theater of World War II while on Texas and after the war made QM1c on October 1, 1945, just four days before his discharge. The World War Two Victory Medal was awarded to all US service members who participated from December 7, 1941, through December 31, 1946. The medal was established by an Act f Congress on July 6, 1945.
