Description

Battleship Texas moored in port. Many sailors on the bow of the ship. Back of the image is stamped for the Photo Shop of U.S.S. Texas. Writing in pen on the back also dates the image to July 1931.

Context

Battleship Texas was flagship of the United States Fleet from September 1, 1927, to September 15, 1931. Admirals Wiley, Pratt, and Chase served as Commander-in-Chief, United States Fleet in that time. Ephriam Dickson was the executive director of Battleship Texas Foundation from June 1995 to February 1999. In addition to his duties, he conducted extensive research on and heavily collected items for the crew of Battleship Texas. He later donated his collection back to BTF.
