Context

Battleship Texas departed San Jacinto State Park for Todd Shipyard in Galveston where she had hull work in dry dock from December 13, 1988, to August 6, 1989, and then put back in water for additional work through February 23, 1990. She was moved to Greens Bayou for decking and monopile instillation and returned to San Jacinto Battleground on July 28, 1990. The Battleship Texas Museum was operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department from 1983 to 2020. Ed Morrison was a volunteer on Battleship Texas from the 1980s until his death in 2006. He garnered relationships with and frequently wrote to Battleship Texas veterans, was active throughout the ship’s time in Todd Shipyard, and captured many photographs throughout his time with the museum.
