Context

Marvin C. Frame transferred to Battleship Texas on August 23, 1938, as a semaphore operator. He became a QM3c on December 31, 1939, before he left the ship on January 11, 1940. His younger brother, Robert A. Frame, joined the crew of Battleship Texas as an SF3c on September 7, 1940. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Marvin reenlisted and briefly returned to Battleship Texas alongside his brother as a QM2c from March 19, 1942, to August 1, 1942. Robert made SF2c on October 1, 1942, and transferred off on December 12, 1942. Sailors and Marines often bought things from the cities they made port in, regardless of wartime or peacetime.
