Context

Battleship Texas steamed, berthed, and operated alongside hundreds of ships from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and other fleets across the globe throughout her time in commission from 1914 to 1948. Orville L. Johnson enlisted into the Marine Corps on December 19, 1927. He later joined the crew of Battleship Texas from June 6, 1928, to May 1930. Johnson collected hundreds of photographs throughout his time on Texas and competed in the rowing championships held within the fleet. USS Wyoming (BB-32) was the lead ship of her class of battleship, and commissioned from September 12, 1912, to August 1, 1947. She was sold for scrap on October 30, 1947
