Scope and Content

Bay Village Players Hailed for Gripping Melodrama A murder mystery, "Night of January 16th, " as bizarre and as sensational as the real-life murder in their peaceful community, opened the Bay Village Players 1954 summer season last night in the Cahoon Park Community House, an is nearly a sellout for the two weeks of the run. The Community House has no stage, so it was "theatre in the round" and the "January 16th" play is very well suited to this kind of production since it needs virtually no props or scenery. I depends on the emotional impact of the trial to create interest and suspense. The jury is selected from the audience. Housewife Jeanne Davies makes an excellent Karn Andre, accused of themurder of her financial wizard lover... It's interesting too, that on this opening night the audience voted "Guilty" and was berated by Judge Heath for bringing in a verdict contrary to the evidence. - Reviewed by Ethel Boros Typed note: DIRECTED BY RUTH B.
