Cream batiste Victorian child's dress of batiste. Rounded neck with lace "collar". Three panels of lace from the shoulder to below the hip. Four sections of narrow tucks between. Skirt below is matching fabric of two layers. Top ruffle is 6.5" with embroidered roses and scalloped edge. Under layer is a 2.5" netted ruffle with lace design. Puff sleeves to the elbow edged in lace with faggoting above and below and slightly lace on the lower edge.
Back has four row of tucking on each side of the five buttons which have an overlay to cover them.
Note: This little white dress was given to me when I was about 5 years old - a gift from my father's sister Helen. She promised me a new dress if I would stop biting my nails. It was very beautiful and had a pale blue satin sash tied with a huge bow in the back.
The dress is now 50 years old/
