Ashtabula July 28, 1842
Gentlemen,
Yours of the 23 inst I was rec a day
or two since, In reply to your enquiry I can only say that
the unsettled state of the currency at this time, induces me
to regain nothing but specie* a Eastern friends; however
the notes of the specie paying Banks won’t answer, but I
suppose it is as difficult to procure such, as it is the specie
in fact I care but little about collecting anything on Land
contracts while the decayed state of the currency continues
In relation to a deed, it would be the wish that you
should wait while the minor heir arrives at a equal age
which will not be under four years, still, one can be
procured sooner on application to court for an order, but
would be attended with some expense. Your Article
of agreement would be as good to you as a deed, when receipt
in full,
Mrs. R & S Osborn
Dover
