Three red circular flowers with blue and red circles on top are to the left with three blue round blossoms at the side of the vase and two four petal reddish long stitch flowers. Blue butterfly to the right of the primary flower and round medium sized flower below with eleven pointed petals. It is protruding from a small blue basket with a rough heart shaped pattern surrounding the basket.
There is a 4" border surrounding the center motif with large ovals, triangle and rectangles outlined with long straight stitches in a zig-zag pattern or alternating straight stitches on each side. Straight stitch designs between them.
Border of green rounded rectangles with three long stitches in red.
Border that is wider on the top and bottom of with a variety of patterns in sections with different background fabrics.
Repeat border of red rounded rectangles with long stitches across in a dark green.
Dark green 2" border with a zigzag pattern creating on point blocks in cream to the outside and greenish blue to the inside with straight red lines in the center.
Edge is unfinished.
Back fabric seems to be pieced in four sections unlike the front.
Note from the sister-in-law of a family member: "She thinks it was probably what they called a table rug. Here’s what she said about the navy blue fabric: This blue fabric (used as the foundation, and visible here on the back) is also probably linsey-woolsey. If you look closely, you can see that the warp and weft are slightly different in color - due to the fact that the linen and wool take up dye differently (wool is the darker color)."
Information on table rugs under notes, similar to penny rugs.
