Letter to Daniel K. Cahoon from G. Bender concerning payment of a voucher and missing documentation.
Washington Aug 17, 1838
My dear Sir
Your letter of 15th did not reach me till about an hour ago - The memo, given to me by Mr. Byers, and on which I took your engagement to remove the Shantees etc. from section 244, before claiming pay on the Final of 243. I think must be found filed with the duplicate of the Final of 244 in my late office at Hancock; if not in that voucher I am at a loss to imagine where I could have placed it. It was taken as my justification for paying that voucher, after the notice given one by Mr. Byers.
I am very truly
yours
G. Bender
