Two page letter from D.J. Nye, attorney to Ida Cahoon, concerning a deed to a house. David J. NYE Elyria Phone 743 David F. NYE 32 Century Block D.J. [and D.F. is crossed out] NYE ATTORNEYS AT LAW ELYRIA, OHIO January Fourteenth 1914 Miss Ida M. Cahoon, North Dover, Ohio. My dear Miss Cahoon:- Your letter of December 17, 1913, enclosing deed of Dr. Jewett was received in my absence on a holiday trip to Texas. I have only recently returned and have been very busy or would have answered your letter before. You ask my advice with reference to this deed. I am of the opinion that the deed from Dr. Jewett and wife might be considered simply as a release of his interest in the house and a surrender of all his rights there. The deed itself explains that there is no money consideration and the price named, in my opinion, is entirely immaterial. My advice to you is to retain the deed and consider it as a release of his rights in the house and the property. you do not need to place this deed upon record because it conveys no land, but file it away among your papers as a release. By accepting this the house becomes yours and you can do what you please with it. I write you this after carefully reading your letter to me and your letter to Dr. Jewett, and would suggest that this is the easiest way out of the unpleasantness. If there is any further suggestion you wish to make with reference to accepting this deed I shall be glad to hear from you. [p. 2] David J. NYE Elyria Phone 743 David F. NYE 32 Century Block D.J.
