Scope and Content

Letter from Ida Cahoon to her cousin Mrs. Aaron Bullock in thanks for a recent number of gifts. 2000.FIC.02.255A Rose Hill North Dover, O March 5, 1905. Dear Cousin,- It was a pleasant surprise to receive your package with its several gifts, last week. The photograph we shall value most highly, feeling grateful to you for sending it and also appreciating the fact that it was so recently taken. [p. 2, back] A friend happened to see the group picture at your photographer's and told of it saying it was there for the enlargement of one of the faces. We supposed it was of Jeannette. We were very fond of her and shall treasure her memory always. The needle work is very pretty, and all the pieces are useful as well as ornamental. The case for silver is so very nice. We have some in use which were gifts. You do not say how [p. 3, inside] we are to divide them, so sister has the doily, Laura the collar and I am to call the silver case mine. We thank you sincerely, We heard you had a birthday at your house this winter. We hope Mr. Bullock and all the rest enjoyed it, and that Mr. Bullock will be as young as ever as the years come and go. We have been well all winter. Have had Mrs. Cowley to help us so we could occasionally be all night from home, to visit Laura and Thomas and Lizzie. Lizzie has not been here since in the fall. She has been unusually frail all winter, part of the time seemingly in a serious state. Thomas has been well. Stacie was there for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since that time has had a severe cold and has not been over. Laura was going to see her one Sunday but telephoned and heard 2000.FIC.02.255B [p. 4] that Charlie, Nora and the Children were to call that afternoon, so concluded to defer her visit. It has been very beautiful here this winter. The lake has been ice covered for many weeks, while the snow has been plentiful, with fine sleighing part of the time. Our new Church on the corner of [p. 5, back] Euclid and Sterling will be dedicated the second of April. A week of anniversary meetings receptions etc, will precede that service. Bishop McDowell Dr. Banks and Dr. Gilbert will preach. We shall try to give ourselves the whole week in the celebration of the event. Our friends tell us that the church [p. 6, inside] is wonderfully attractive. We hope you are all well and that some day we shall have the pleasure of seeing you here. Remember us affectionately to Mr. Bullock and Mabel and accept our sincere gratitude for you remembrance of us as evinced by your gifts Ever yours affectionately Ida M.
