Dear Daniel
I have passed up and down the river and although for the honour of Old Hancock I have made every effort to see you yet have I not been able -
I do not even know where to direct this letter but I write anyhow and hope that it may find you. I left all well that you care about Randolph Byers and sundry others have had to walk and I am sure that Fisk will be dismissed in about a month. God grant it he is a [missing] ? ...pake
I have been all through Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and a part of Illinois and must say that I do not like that part of the world as well as I do old Maryland -
I shall be out again with my wife and family in about three months when I hope to see you the work is about to start & I must stop
God Bless you
John H. Patterson
