Dear Br. Henry
Since I received your
last I have been sick several days & this
with a determination to write to Amy first is
the reason for my not writing sooner.
Since I left there we have changed
girls & I can but hope it is a good change.
You seem to rejoice at a settlement
with Wm. & so do I, but I should be
still better pleased with a change of
affection in him for I was really sur-
-prised to see him so much attached to
this world. What would four cows be
to me compared with a sense of having
Honored my dear deceased Father in a
peaceful, amicable settlement without
law. & here with your liberty let me
advise you to do nothing without the
advice of as good council as Esq. Porter

Clifton(I beg your pardon) you know you
are young & inexperienced in these matters, & if
one should be disposed to be particular; you
would have the advantage of having done
right. The children stood it much better
than I did coming home. We called before
Br Jameson’s awhile & again in Elyria where
I bought me a dress. I am not really able to
wash all our dishes & it seems all foolishness
to expend much on such a frail body.
Don't you think that you had better come
out here soon after haying than to wait
longer I got a hearty promise from M.A.
but I must close with love to yourself
& family. Your own sister, O-always.
Julia
