Maf. / March 25, 1856 Dear Cousin Although it has been a short time, since I received your letter, will now endeavor to answer it. Although you was rather backward about answering my last, you did not wate four months or more. The spring term is now in operation one week is past never more to return, and in about 15 more if I have my helth only think, where think I shall be if no acident happens by the way, there is good many ifs in the way. I anticipate a deal of pleasure on my return home. Mr. Deslee and Aunt R intends to return with me and go through N.Y. and to the falls of Niagara. Instead of going through in 27 hours we intend to be two or [hole] days about it now all this will happen if nothing happens [hole] I must bid you goodbye for present as the preyr bell will call me to my duties. Wednesday evening I now proceed with my conversation if I could change my pen and paper for a place by the side of you in that parlor p.2 bed I would much rather do it than be trying to note down a few of my scattered though with the point of this pen for it is not good for much. But you would like to have me proceed with something a little more intersting if I can start up any. Wal the first question in WP is something about the weather how is the weather out west it is all mud here. I have to go up to the academy three times a day and dear it is dreadful muddy. I wish old doll was here. I bet I would not go up a foot for my room is as far from home half way to Aff? it seems very much like spring it is warm the sun shines birds sings and I have found my shimmie and drawers 2 caps and a stocking but N___ has not found any of her things O! dear Elizza I can't begin to tell you any thing but when we get together in the parlor chamber where Pa and Ma cannot hear us then we'll have no grand time you get ? Sadler's fortune book engaged if you are a mind to I don't care about it as N__ has told my fortune. Elizza the first night after I get home you come down there andd stay all night with me Ye Now the next thing is you [hole] like to know what I am about this term wal [hole] I will tell you but have not written to our folks back [hole] going to at nine o'clock we will all assemble together for prayers after that comes my grammar which recites til ten then I have to go to my room stay untill eleven then go up to recite in algebra til twelve at two go to the drawing room remain there p.3 til quarter after four from that time til five in the reading class at five meet in the fisk hall for our evening devotions so you see that is the order of the day with me and my studies I will put them all together so you may understand fully what they are. Well they are Grammar Algebra drawing & reading it is getting late so I will let this lay over for the present and will try to have a better pen to finish with so good night. Wednesday morning I think I can steel a few moments out of study hours to finish this letter you said in your last that father had got the blues and I lived in hopes he will recover, don't you think he will? Why I am so astonished to think Leonard has stretched a ladies belt why awful what will become of all of you if I was to stay away another year How do you and Jake carry said as good friends as ever I spect. And now about Elly__ father and mother says she is dreadful good fright and cunning I am shure father thought it was wonderful cunning and to have her hinder him. Dear me what is going to be done out there if the inhabitants keep on there with not be any room for me I guess there has been as many as seven or eight births and now Lydia, S__ has got her belt stretched how do they class of generally this winter? I expect you will get so attached to one another when I get back shall be crowded off in one corner all alone [hole] I am coming, and see what good I can do you [hole] can sober you down am afraid you are too much excited espressily Leonard and how does Jerry get along I have not heard from him in ever so long you tell me to let Harrison allone I intend to so Mother Bates may hold her 4. loving me I wish she was lung? lied? you would tell me some news Fidelia had got a boy the night I received you letter I had two others one from father and mother and as you know it is a mother of course I read the one from home first and found it contained the same news does she make as fuss about this as the others?
