Letter from M.A. Cahoon to her children, writing to tell about the health of the family at Rose Hill.
Note on back of this indicating it is the last letter that the children received from their mother.
Rose Hill Jan 31, 1894
Dear Children,
I thought a letter from me might be acceptable, and as Martha is not very well, but very busy and I am a lady of leisure I would have time to write you something concerning the family at Rose Hill.
Joseph is about the same as when you were here. He did not seem as well Monday and Tuesday, owing I think to his exerting himself in dictating letters for Ida to write. Today he seems much better today. The weather was more favorable for him yesterday. We have

changed his place to the east end of the table on account of his not having to walk so far to his meals. Martha has been suffering from the toothache and Neuralgia, for the last three weeks, and is not well. She is able to care for Joseph and superintends the work. Marshall is as well as usual. I have not been as well as usual have had the colic several times which has left me very weak. I am thankful I am feeling better today. Millie Beard sent me a photograph of her boy baby. He is a very sweet looking baby. Ida said you thought some of coming to visit us this week,

while I would be much pleased to see you, I would rather you would postpone the visit until Saturday 10, as that is th day we have agreed on to celebrate my eighty fourth birthday which occurs the 8, The girls could not come on that day. I will be glad to have you come the 10. But if you can come this week, It will be agreeable to us to have you both times. Lissie I hope you are better. Having nothing of interest to communicate I close,
