I have not Received one cent from Kennedy either Interest on Principle. he has gone to Illinois and who owns the land I know not. I heard that a Part of it was sold for taxes. the taxes are Charged to Nathan Kennedy on the Auditors list I have understood you wished to get the farm James used to live on I have visited it and the man that is on it is making betterment on the Place from the use of it such as clearing off the Girdling [removal of bark around the circumference of the tree to usually kill it] and clearing the pices that James chopped and repairing the fences & his time is out next spring if you want the Place you can have it a fair Price - I shall send your note by Mr. Cro? by the begin of this and hope you will not fail to make out the money for I have had a lawsuit at Rochester and lost about 300 dollars
