Letter from Randall Crawford, lawyer, in New Albany, Indiana to Joel B. Cahoon indicating that the suit had not been heard at the recent court hearing.
New Albany Dec 18 1848
Mr JB Cahoon
Dr Sr
Yours is recd. The suit of Smith vs you was not tried at the last term for divers reasons, as, ill health prevented my taking your proofs, Smith was not ready on his part, & the court had not time to try it if parties had been ready. Shall take deposition on your side at the earliest day, & then submit it as soon as court can try it, which will probably be at next April term
Respectfully Hc [etc.]
R Crawford
