Mr. J.B. Cahoon
Dear Sir
Yours of the 16 is before me and I find by reference to the act of the Legislature which you refer to. That it is made the duty of the Agent of State, and not the Treasurer to pay your judgment. Mr. Bright the agent is now in the City of New York, but whether in funds is not known at this department. It is presumed that it was to him that your attorney properly made application. and it is to him your inquiries should be directed
All warrants drawn upon the treasury proper have been, and I trust will continue to be properly paid
Very Respectfully
Yours Hc [etc.]
