Dear Brother
I embrace the first opportunity of addressing a few lines to by way of promise. We had a verry quick passage the Great Emperor ibis was left far in the rear the Pappahancock laid over for us and looked amazed at the Green River the wonder of art and speed she ran with such effect that a person had to make allowance while eating to hit his mouth. & one mans hat fell off while looking at her - I called on Mr Vaughn he was not at home his hired man told me Mr. Vaughn had received a letter from & had answered it last Monday he was dissatisfied with the Machine but would pay if he could be convinced it would do good business I presume he wrote Joel all about it - this is not a verry lovely place & hope we shall be contented Melissa sends her love to Margaret Mrs & Miss Ingham & all enquiring friends Please excuse this bad written letter Mr. Brown leaves this after noon for Cincinnati please write me soon - direct to Evensville Ind -
In haste yours truly
My respects to them all W.O. Cahoon
