Misses Cahoon,
North Dover, O.
Dear Mesdames, -
Referring to our former correspondence in regard to changing the name of the Village of Bay, I would suggest that the different steps having been taken which have separated us completely from Dover Township, the matter of changing of the name could be taken up if desired by a petition of any of the property owners.
The matter was discussed at the Council sometime since, and there seemed to be a sentiment prevailing that no change was necessary. However, this should not preclude any property owner from having a petition circulated if they so desired. I have often thought that I would agree with you that if possible the name "Dover" should be retained in some way, and as a compromise which would possibly meet with the approval of all of the residents I have often thought of the name "DOVERLAKE". If some such name could be agreed upon, we could then refer to the corporation as "Doverlake" or whatever the name might be, and it would not be necessary to use the word "village" in connection with it, and I really believe that we would then feel that we are of more importance in the world.
This letter is volunteered simply because of the fact of our former correspondence.
Yours truly,
Wm. O. MathewsCollection
