Clear Spring [Maryland] July 28th 1835
Dear Brother
I wish you would try and meet me in the Williamsport on Saturday next. I have partly bargained for 4 boats with Jos. Holman Esq. of Williamsport and I wish you to be there on that day and have Uncle Holman come with you the boats are to be 2 of them for Boating Stone 60 feet long 14 feet in width and 32 inches high 2 for Boating Earth 80 feet long 14 feet wide and 3 feet high in the Gunel [gunnel] - we cant have them any wider, because the canal company agree to take them off our hands when we are done, and they will not answer their purposes any wider. So say their engineers, I left the Dam yesterday morning and will probably leave here on tomorrow for Round Hill Mr. Lyles is making arrangements for moving the Big Shantu from Sect 171 we had selected a site for it in the upper side of orchard above the Spring House please give my love to Margaret and the Children
Bottom right has been cut, presumably the signature of Daniel K. Cahoon.
*gunnel - top edge of a boat's hull that runs along the length of the boat
