?He Smel? Feb, 19th 1889
Dear Mother
I suppose you are wondering why you don't hear from me again. So I will like my first good chance + let you know that we are all alive at least. for I expect every minute the "children" will wake up. I am up + dressed for the first time + you can imagine how good it seems to get out of bed again - but "my woman" says I better not go into the other room today. It makes my eyes ache to write so I can't tell everything this time. There is lots to tell but maybe
Back left:
I better keep the worst to tell you, when you come in the Spring. I am more anxious now than ever to have you come + see our nice little girl. I believe you like girls better than boys. She is awful nice + is pretty red yet so can't tell her complexion. Its probably dark though her hair is black + eyes dark blue. They all say she is pretty but I don't think she is as good looking as Harry their age. She is better natured though. We haven't decided on a name yet. Well I can't write anymore now. Just received a card from Mary. Hope to get a letter soon. More Next Time. Lovingly ???
Back Right:
Afternoon. Cold weather came when the little girl did. The next morning after she was born it was 36 below zero. It is very cold yet. So I had to be pretty careful but got a little cold some way am all right now though I guess - I got a girl three days before I was sick + sent for Mrs. Ingels when the Doctor came and got a woman the next day to come + take care of the baby she is here yet. does the housework + all now + the girl is gone. Poor little Harry cried most to death. The day the baby came + couldn't get over it for a week or more. Cried mamma all the time + had to be on the bed most of the time. He has improved a good deal since
Front left:
you saw him - talks a good deal now. Has sixteen teeth + is as fat as butter. I wish Emma was here or any of the girls. Well I must stop again. Write ??? as ever Metta
Harry put a card in for Flossy -
He calls the baby "Sissie"Collection
