The "M" Marine
Article announcing the establishment of the M Marine Line of Lumber Barges.
A line of lumber barges to be called the "M" line is shortly to be established by L.P. Mason, of this city. The first boat, named the T.H. Cahoon will be launched at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, at Masons Ship Yard, just south of the middle bridge. The Cahoon is a handsomely constructed barge of 431 tons burthen, according the government measurement, and will carry about 600,000 m feet of lumber, when drawing 9 feet of water. The Cahoon will carry lumber between Saginaw river points and Ohio ports possibly running to Buffalo. Her first trip will be made to Cleveland and Sandusky, and she will leave on the first as soon as the ice gets out of the lake, probably during the early part of next week.Collection
