Dear Mother
I embrace the oppor-
tunity of sending by Dea. Austin, a
line to you, for I still feel anxious,
that you should come out here & stay 2 or
3 weeks if it is consistent with your health
If you cannot come by the latter part of
this week, (which would be preferable) [has a line through] come
by all means by the first of next.
We have had a girl about 3 weeks.
She is a very good girl kind & obliging
among the children & faithful in busi-
ness, she had the ague [fever] the most of last
week. My own health is quite
poor for me, the rest of us are well
as usual Father & E. both thought
that you could come & I have rather
depended upon it.
Aaron was rather badly scalded two
weeks ago but has entirely recovered
Back:
He sat down in the strainer of boiling [crossed out]
hot water. I do not remember to have
heard a word from Amy since I was
at home. It is night & I do not
feel able to write more - with love
to all I remain your unworthy but
affectionate Daughter
Julia A. Goodrich
P.S. I have written Sabbath evening having
just learned that Mr. Austin will call
tomorrow morning. He is a good man &
deserves a hearty welcome.
