Wooden high wheel, also great wheel or walking wheel, for spinning wool. Unusual design in fittings for miners head. Features adjustable front shaft.

Knobs on the side of the great wheel are for tension on wheel.
Distaff is broken and could be replaced with a reed.
Northern Ohio wheels generally made within 500 miles of Ohio.
On the base are two knobs "leg up" next to each other that are used to hold roving to pull around so that you remember which end to start pulling the wool when you pick it up.
