Description

WWII United States Army Air Force (USAAF) 2nd Air Force Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI). A Golden yellow eagle gripping a set of arrows. Above the eagle is a white five-pointed star with a red disk in the center, which was the official aircraft marking for the US during WWII. The falcon represents a symbol of controlled destruction, embodying the fighter and bomber units assigned to the command. In its talons, the falcon holds stylized lightning bolts, which represent speed and striking capabilities. The white star with the red is the historical Hap Arnold Army Air Forces.
