WWII Poster - Defense BondsEntry/Object ID
D.2024.103Scope and Content
WWII Propaganda poster by H.H. Wilkinsons for the sale of Defense Bonds Stamps funding the war effort. The scene depicts a fighter pilot in the cockpit of a plane looking at the viewer smiling and giving a thumbs up as other similar planes fly overhead. The caption reads: "'You buy 'em we'll fly 'em' Defense Bonds Stamps" This idyllic scene creates a relationship between the viewer and the men serving as pilots overseas. They have a direct connection and know that the bonds that they purchase are being used to fund the war effort and, more specifically, to manufacture planes for the pilot in the poster.Collection
