Response of Arthur Butler to Gustavus Kirby regarding the moving of the Bedford Courthouse, seeling the land it is now on so the Couthouse could have a better setting. But would not sponsor a plan that would involve expenditure of at least $20,000 to be raised by the issue of Township bonds.

Statement Concerning Immedately South of the Bedford Court House

Description

It is a statement of petition to preserve and enhance the Court House and property. A group of Bedford citizens made a cash offer of $20,000 to purchase the property at this price and offer it to the town without profit to themselves.It was also suggested that the Town could pay for with the taxes of one year and would not have to increase taxes to do so afterwards..The statement reitereates the importanceof the Court House not only to the town of Bedford but to the County of Westchester as well. They also want to protect it from encroachment of another building. Three page document
