silk on silk embroidery of New York emblem with New York motto "E. Pluribus Unum/ Excelsior./ Fearless and Independent". Shield with sunrise in center, on top of the shield a smaller shield with American flag and Eagle on top. flanked by people on either side, the right holding the scales, both people with two American flags facing outwards. Back of object has Chinese writing, likely made as a Japanese export product to NY, c. early 1900s.
