Ecru silk tulle evening dress, circa 1912, V neck with insert of ivory satin under tulle with ivory crinkled chiffon band, grosgrain ribbon flanking insert (ribbon formerly pale blue now gray) cummberbund waist of tulle, the tiered skirt edged with grosgrain, scattered embroidery of gilt chain stitch and Poiret or Lucile like rosette roses in pink, yellow and pale blue crystal beads with green leaves, purple silk flowers at waist, damage to tulle, faded ribbon, but otherwise good condition. This is a nice example of the World War I period style personified by popular American dance sensation Irene Castle.
