Gold and coral baby pacifier and rattle, silver gilt bells, engraved whistle mouthpiece, circa 1800
The pacifier belonged to Augustus Van Cortlandt of Van Cortlandt Park (1826-1912) and was used by the donor and his father (all named Augustus Van Cortlandt). The coral mouthpiece is supposed to be a luck bringer. Marked L.S. (maker's name)
