Footwarmer, punched tin
Foot warmers have been around since the 16th century. Ones likes these made with punched tin within a wood frame, were popular from the 18th century until the mid-19th century. They would have been heated up by inserting a tin case filled with heated coals. The practical wire handle made it easy to transport to a carriage, sleigh or train on a cold winter night.
