BIO: Charles Wood Avery was born in Mount Kisco on 9/13/18 to Arthur Smith Avery and Marjorie Own Ash. Raised in Katonah on 80 Edgemont Rd. Graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, 1936. Attended Amherst College, the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and the New School. Served in Army 1941-1945, 8th Infantry Division. Member of the cast of "Call Me Mister", 1946. Announcer with a number of radio stations, beginning in 1948 at WMD in Atlantic City, NJ and ending in 1967 at WBRW, Brewster, NY. 9 year career at Grand Central as a ticket seller and information clerk. Left this job in 1979 to go on the QEII cruise around the world with his son. He married twice, both ending in divorce. Second marriage to Anna Maria Ea(?)gster, a Swiss citizen, had one son named Richard Arthur Avery (Kristin Wiles's husband). Richard died in 2013, marking end of this line of Averys. In the 1970s and 1980s resided in Manhatten, and lived at the Hotel Royalton. He spent end of his life as a resident of Lovely Hill Nursing Home in Pawling, NY.
