Description

papier mache? milliners model doll with brown painted hair in center part style with 1850's dress with net overlay. Dress might have been originally lighter, but has turned darker with age. Net overlay is in poor condition and ripping along skirt. Most likely is doll described in found catalogue card in July 2021. 70.39.1: French Doll bought at 1855 Paris Exposition with complete wardrobe were owned by Mrs. R.C. Greanleaf of Lawrence, L.I. when she was a child living in Paris. The donor is the granddaughter of Mrs. G.: Mrs. Wm. B. Chappell lived in Somers, N.Y., formally Mount Kisco 6.5" long
