Description

Wool U.S. Army World War II Ike jacket with 9 (removable) pins/medals and 7 (sewn on) patches. Size 38 R. Buttons at sleeves and in front. Buckle at waist on each side. Pocket on each side in front and also inside. Cotten lining. Worn by William L. Close, Jr. #39048317, Technician Third Grade, 309th Infantry Regiment, Army of the United States. Patches left sleeve: Star with A =6th Army; Chevron gold & navy blue=Tech Sgt., "T" not available; 3 gold stripes=overseas service stripes, 6 mos. each; slanted gold & black stripes=regular enlistment stripes, 3 yrs./ each. Patches right sleeve: Red semicircle with white lightning streak=78th Lightning Division; Chevron gold & navy blue same as left sleeve; Gold wreath on green=Meritorious service unit citation. 11 removable pins accessioned separately.
