Hoff current meter made by Scientific Instrument co, Berkeley. Composed of 2 long steel rods that screw into each other, 1 wider aluminium rod, 1 short aluminum rod, 1 steel torpedo- shaped peice with 4 fins and bulbous body, slot in center of body, Everready battery with cable attached (wire covered with fabric) in 2 places. Cable is tangled and may be in two sections, connected by black plastic and brass screws. Other end of cable attached to plastic and brass device shaped like the earpeice of earphones (possible earphone itself) and wire loop, probably a headband. Black peice inscribed Made in USA, Western Electric, Patent in USA, July 23, 1918. Also includes wood block with adjustable screw and wing nut, screws at one end. Steel device, threaded to screw into rods (? see diagram). 1 tree- bladed propeller, 1 four-bladed propeller, 1 large 4 bladed propeller, 1 disk possible a wieght- inscribed 0.05, 1 short peice of cord with an alligator clip, 1 extra peice of cord, no clip, trianglular aluminum peice with screw for tightening, coil of steel cable with clip, 1 yellowed paper calibration chart, plotting revolutions per second by velocity in feet per second, labled as Rating Curve, Hoff Compination Meter #126, rated at Berkeley CA, Feb 7, 1928. Signed W.J. Hoff. torn and crumpled on right hand sign. Notebook paper- data points for curve, Feb 7, 1928. Rating table - pre- printed sheet, filled in Feb 7, 1928. 2. pages. All contained inside wood box with reddish stain, leather strap on each side, possibly for handle, broken off except for part attached to sides of box, 2 brass hinges and simple latch.
