Sake Brewmaster, Seizaburo Kawano, stands in front of a 2,000 gallon specially manufactured tank in which the ancient Japanese beverage sake will be brewed for the first time ever in the continental United States at the Numano Sake Company facility in Berkeley, California. According to Taketsugu "Take" Numano, fifty-two 2,000 gallon tanks like the one pictured above will enable the new company, a joint venture of the Numano International marketing company and Pacific International Rice Mills, Inc., PIRMI, a San Francisco concern, to produce and distribute 250,000 cases of sake annually. 708 Addison Street.
