Description

U.S. Army uniform worn by John A. Farnsworth, Berkeley, CA. Uniform includes suit jacket, slacks, hat and misc insignia. Farnsworth enlisted from UC Berkeley in 1941 and served in both the Army and Air Force...96th infantry in WW II (Phillipines and Okinawa) and the 25th infantry in the Korean War. He retired in 1964 from Intelligence School, Fort Halliburg, MD, Military District of Washington. He received the Silver Star and Bronze Star Medal for outstanding brave deeds on the battlefield, WW II, in a ceremony by Major General James L. Bradley, commander of the 96th Division.. A photo of John Farnsworth in uniform and a copy of a newspaper article about him are in the "People" file in the Vertical Files on the first floor in the museum.
